The office of Col. Murray, local Veterans Administration official will further supply the library along this line. The American Red Cross shelf has a wealth of material on life saving and water safety, first aid, home nursing, food and nutrition. There is an interesting history of the organization, explanation of the volunteer system, and account of Broward county work.

Anyone who is interested in these subjects may obtain more material upon request, at the desk. In the children's department the library also has some new material. Mrs. Beatrice Price of the Broward county Tuberculosis and Health association has presented a set of "how to do" booklets. There are instructions on all phases of gardening, chicken raising, homemaking, carpentry, family relaxation, budgeting, and farming all explained in clear, easy style and liberally illustrated.

These publications were put out by the University of Florida project in applied economics, and were made possible by a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, inc. The Ft. Lauderdale public library is featuring this week a hew section devoted to pamphlet-type information which would be of interest to th2 average borrower. There is a shelf of publications on health topics Public Health Reports from the U.

S. Public Health Service, booklets on whooping cough, heart disease, care of hearing, food poisoning, bulletins from the the Cancer Research Association and the Florida health department. Another shelf is devoted to publications on the subject of children their care, health and recreation. These pamphlets include articles on community plans for children, nutritious food for young fry, hints on guiding the adolescent, a helpful reading list for books to be enjoyed both by tots and their parents, information for foster mothers and fathers. The veterans' shelf contains brochures on the after-effects and suggested adjustments of malaria, loss of hearing, amputation.

There are also occupational briefs, compact summaries of possible fields for a career explaining the advantages and drawbacks of each, A handy -table of premium rates ently upped its rate consiaeraaiy. The Hallandale rate scneame, according to the tax payers group, will be a flat meter charge of $1.00 per month pins a $2.00 minimum for 2,000 gallons or under. After that the scale goes like this: 75 cents per thousand rallons for the next 4,000 gallons: 50 cents per thousand for the next 4.000. and 25 cents per thousand for all over 10,000 gallons. So while one or two bte "water users mav benefit, the rank and John W.

"Jack" Bell. Pwepubli-can candidate for prosecuting attorney In Bro-ird county, made the opening speech of his campaign before the Precinct Workers of the 17th Precinct Wednesday night. Urging them to call on every family in their precinct, Jack gave them this message: "Only with two-party representation in county, state and national legislative bodies, can you get consideration of your local problems. A Republican Congressman can get your flood control appropriations through a Republican House; State representatives can get proper consideration from the Everglades Drainage Commission, and your county representatives can see that the county and city's cooperation, which is part of the flood control program, Is carried out." eBH told the workers, he will cooperate with all groups of public spirited citizens interested in better law enforcement and the expediting of legal procedures in the county. By vigorous prosecution and timely preventive meas-tures.

he intends to reduce the crime rate in the county, he declared. He promised that adequate records will be set up showing the disposition of all cases handled by the county prosecutor's office if he is elected. In closing. Bell pointed out that the precinct worker is the backbone of the party, that by personal contact with the voter the worker can stress the Importance of the issues at stake, and can acquaint the voter with the platforms and personalities of their candidates.
