Fannin moved to Hollywood in 1925, and at age 27, opened the Hollywood Mortuary.

He had moved to Florida from Indianapolis, where for four years he served as an instructor of practical embalming at Indiana Embalming College. The Fannin Funeral Home at 326 E. Las Olas Blvd. was opened by Fannin when he moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1930. Throughout his career, Fannin was active in fessional organizations, serving as president of both the Florida Funeral Directors Association and the State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers.
