Hagen Road Elementary: The school will hold its annual bazaar from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday right after an open house. Middle School Boca Raton Academy: Sixteen seventh-grade students placed above the 97th percentile in the California Achievement test administered recently at the school. The students were: Ellen Bailey, Shannon Bailey, Dawne Basinski, Alyson Berliner, Scott Duckworth, Lnann Gentry, Tara Hamer, Jennifer Hermansen, Debra Kanstock, Desma Kizis, Mary Lowery, Steve Siccone, Jeff Sbafer, Kristen Wagner, Lisa Walsh and Jason Weisbaum.

nr rum L--i urnirure 1 Compiled by Jackie White Elementary S.D. Spady Elementary: The school received a grant from IBM to begin a computerized "Writing to Read" program at the school. The program teaches first- and second-grade children to read by -letting them write words the way they sound. The grant will be enough to buy the computer programs for the 'classes and some of the computers. IBM is also providing technical training for teachers.

The school system must provide matching funds which will be used to buy more computers. The school's Parent-Teacher Associa- tion has already raised about $5,000, Principal Barbara Brown said. Delray Beach Elementary: Elementary Science Spe- cialist Buss Counter will be presenting a program at 7:30 p.m Thursday in the school auditorium for all those interested in helping their children with their Science Fair projects. Topics include selecting projects, display techniques, neatness and regulations. The Science Fair will be held at the Delray Mall on March 9 and 10.

Also this month, all classes will be making a trip to the new Gumbo Limbo Center, located at 1801 N. Ocean Boca Raton, following a unit of study centering on the Florida environment. Citizenship Honor Roll students are: Colleen Barry, Carrie Miller, Christine Pickett, Jennifer Luyendyk, John Levy, Sarah Baker, Thomas Wheeler, Juanita Corona, Christina Garcia, Tobias Hartnett, Shannon Kwolek, Julie Pasley, Balder Saun- ders, Owen Simpson, Lisa Beebe, Tiffany Costello, Ester Baltierra, Lydia Benavidei, Christopher Wheeler, Steven Wichmann, Jill Tusa, Tara Summers, Laura Miller, Aubrey Kelly, Katie Ilanvey, Charlie Guadiana, Michelina Ferraraccio, Kimberly Chapman, Telisba Burgess, Marilena Auri, Loratana Auri, Kathleen Anzalone, Daniela Auri, Esther Dimou, David Kayfus, Shawn Lambert, George Schmidt, Shelby Weitt, Warren Young, and Melissa Bonds. Mitchell Community: The Academic Games team has placed first in the Linguishtiks and Social Studies sections of the Palm Beach County Academic Games League. The following students have qualified for the National Academic Games tournaments, to be held in Georgia during the spring: Chris Boyd, Michael Harwood, Erick Miggenburg and Geoff Urbaniak.

Boynton Beach Elementary: Held it's annual spelling bee, with retired faculty members as the judges. The first place winner was fifth-grader Richard Wright, who will now compete in the county-wide competition. Fourth-grader Joshua Malkin placed second, and fourth-grader Lanette Pettry came in third. Honorable Mention goes to fourth-grader Monica Roundtree. Fourth-grader Jennifer McGee won the essay contest 1 High School MTUnY'S FAMOUS FINE in CRAFT Spanish River High School: Students will have the opportunity to visit several colleges and universities in mid-April.

The college tour is open to 37 junior students who are serious about higher education and would like to visit selected campuses. The campuses to be visited are Duke, Emory, Wake Forest, Florida State, plus the University of Georgia, the University of Florida, and the University of North Carolina. Tours of the campuses, catalogs, application forms and scholarship information will be given at each institution.
