She was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Telephone Pioneer Of America and A.A.R.P. NICHOLS Captain Stanley U.S.N. retired, died October 30, at John Knox Health Center at the age of 80. Captain Nichols had lived at John Knox Village just over a year.

He was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in 1926. He had two tours of duty in China. His was the first armed forces ship to pass through the Panama Canal after Pearl Harbor, though he was in the area of fighting, he never heard a gun fired in anger. He transferred to a surface ship and commanded the U.S.S.

Xanthus at the end of WWII and was Commander of the U.S.S. Cimarron during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Burnside Nichols of Pompano Beach; three sisters, Marie Sindt, Grace Nichols of Boulder, CO and Rose Straub. Funeral arrangements by the R.
