Louis Toman, longtime resident Louis Toman, a resident of South Florida for 40 years, died Monday at the Plantation Nursing Home after a long illness. He was 84. Mr.

Toman, whose son, Lou, is chief photographer for the Fort Lauderdale News and Sun-Sentinel, came to the area in 1945. Mr. Toman, a resident of Lauderhill, owned and operated an automotive sales and repair center. He was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Fort Lauderdale.

In addition to his son, Lou, Mr. Toman is survived by another son, Frank, of Plantation; a daughter-in-law, Donna Toman of Plantation; sister Anna Faherty of Trenton, N.J.; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 9 a.m. today at St. George Catholic Church.

Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. with," said Division Chief Jim Ray, who was Mr. Glattli's colleague and friend since 1965. "I just loved the guy. No matter what situation you were in, you could depend on Herb to help." "He was a really nice guy," said Mayor Jean Robb, a friend of the Glattli family for more than 20 years.

"He was really a dedicated professional." Mr. Glattli, who graduated from Pompano Beach Senior High School in 1961, joined the Marine Corps in 1964, advancing to the rank of sergeant while serving in the reserves for six years. Mr. Glattli is survived by his wife, Eleanor, a son, Michael, of Atlanta, and two stepsons, William and Jeffrey, both of Deerfield Beach; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

John Glattli of Highlands, N.C. DEERFIELD BEACH Herbert J. Glattli, a deputy chief with the Deerfield Beach Fire Department, died Monday, He was 41. Mr. Glattli, a member of the department since 1963, was promoted to deputy chief from division chief of training in April 1984.

He was a Deerfield Beach resident almost all of his life, moving to the area with his parents when he was a few months old. A certified emergency medical technician, Mr. Glattli received several commendations during his career.
